How to get to Tomsk from European part of Russia

Tomsk is an important educational center of Russia and is an established center of innovations too, so ease of travel to the city is among its strong points and you can get here for YARCHE Tomsk International Marathon without any problems. Flying through Moscow is the quickest way (there are 5 flights a day), other options include flying to Novosibirk or even exciting trip by the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway. 

You can fly to Tomsk from Saint Petersburg (with a connection in Moscow) in 7 hours 10 min.

Pobeda airline flight that departs at 8:10 pm is the most convenient — you'll be in Tomsk at 7:20 am in 7 hours 10 min. You will have a short connection at Vnukovo airport of Moscow for about one and a half hour.

If you book your flight 2 months before your travel, the ticket will cost ₽8,558.  Prices offered by Pobeda airline vary and you may get even a better deal.

There are other connecting flights from Saint Petersburg to Tomsk but they are either more expensive or have less comfortable connections.

There are also direct flights from Tomsk to Simferopol and Sochi in summer.

A 4 hours flight from Moscow

We have five flights to and from Moscow daily by Ural Airlines, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Pobeda airlines from/to Domodedovo, Shermetyevo and Vnukovo Moscow airports.

All flights depart from Moscow late at night (about 10:30 pm to 0:55 am) and arrive at about 6:35-9:00 am. Flights back to Moscow depart from 7:30 to 10:15 am. To be in time for the Marathon you should start Friday night June 7 the latest.

Ticket price for the dates starts at ₽5,099 (by Pobeda) or ₽10,002 (Aeroflot).


Check the prices before booking! Sometimes you can get a ticket to Tomsk at half a price.  Pobeda often cut their price down to ₽2,500 or even less than that.

To mention a few there are also direct domestic flights from Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk, Surgut, Abakan, Novosibirsk. 

From Moscow by train in 2 days and 6 hours

Train №038Н starts from Moscow every other day at 10:50 pm and arrives to Tomsk at 09:16 am (local time, 4 hours time difference). Average price of the ticket is ₽7,500-9,000. Other options include travelling by Trans Siberian to Novosibirsk or Taiga and change there to a local train.

Travelling through Novosibirsk (265 km from Tomsk)

Bus: Bus trip takes 4.5 hours, flights are numerous, you can go right from Novosibirsk airport for about ₽750-900.

Car: Takes 3-3.5 hours, BlaBlaCar service is highly popular, the ride would cost ₽450-550.

Suburban train or regular train: Takes 5 hours and more, the cheapest ticket is ₽668.

Plane: Daily flight, departs at noon and takes 50 min, ₽1,095-1,195.

You can fly to Novosibirk from Ekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Perm, Rostov-na-Donu and other cities.
